Link cloaking

I heard about this a while back, and I tried to get some more info on it.

Basically what I am trying to do is find out if it is something that everyone should be doing or is someone stealing your links something that could happen, but very unlikely so I should not really worry about it.

If it(link stealing) is a legit concern what is the best way to go about not having my link stolen?

It's not about stealing, it's about hiding your real link from Ad Platform's bots, so they can approve your ads.
