Thank God for this newbie section otherwise I'd be getting flamed on this one.

I finally got website up with only one page of content though. I'm gonna add a page every other day.

So from what I've read on getting your site to rank, you to build backlinks. From what I understand that will require alot of my time because you gotta email people and stuff like that. I just don't have that kind of time.

Is there an easier but efficient way to go about doing this. I'm willing to shell out a little money.

hire services

xrummer, bookmarking, blog commenting, onlywire and ping account creation...
If you have a wordpress blog use onlywire plugin for that...

and after building link dont hope for over night change..
you need to wait and continue... your process...

It's gonna take a while to get top positions (unless you got a great domain). Keep at it.

Social bookmarking is a fast way to get bookmarks, although they don't hold a lot of weight.

If you want a quick burst of traffic that will last 3-4 days, simply Digg your website using a keyword you want to rank for and bookmark the Digg at 10-20 other social bookmarking websites.

Write articles and publish them to the top article directories. Ezinearticles is one of the best, but it would take a few days to get approved, assuming your article is unique and readable.

Don't dismiss the "emailing people" approach. When done correctly it can be incredibly effective, and those are very valuable links (assuming you're targeting authority, relevant sites).

Well, you can drop links in many places for free but that takes time which
you say you do not have.

Otherwise, you can pay for links, or you could put something on your site
that is so good that others WANT to link to it.

Search around for "link bait"

Try forum profile links

Hi:
Links within profile pages within forums are one method that you can do yourself on a weekly basis.

They are not difficult to find. Try this in Google search to find expressionengine forums..

"powered by expressionengine"
(retain the quote marks)

The expressionengine platform is: IP diverse.

Ensure that profile page links are 'dofollow'

In the case of expression, links can be added to the 'bio' field. Try adding 3 or 4 anchor text links in this format:

Code:
<a href="[URL="http://www.wickedfire.com/view-source:http://cheapportabledvdplayersshop.com/"]h**p://yoursite.com/[/URL]">youkeyword</a>
<br />
<a href="[URL="http://www.wickedfire.com/view-source:http://cheapportabledvdplayersshop.com/panasonic-portable-dvd-player/"]h**p://yoursite.com/yourpage/[/URL]">yourkeyword</a>
<br />
<a href="[URL="http://www.wickedfire.com/view-source:http://cheapgamingcomputersonline.com/custom-built-gaming-computers/"]h**p://yoursite.com/yourpost/[/URL]">yourkeywords</a>
here are a couple of example sites you can use:

Code:
h**p://teentoday.co.uk/forums/
   h**p://cartthrob.com/forums/
both sites are PR 3 and are dofollow

good luck

You need to make sure that everthing else is right aswell. Like valid html... keywords... good load time etc... do a yahoo backlink search and see who links to your competitors, that would be a good place to start. Beware too much too soon will get you sandboxed!!

From what I have read, you have to do 2 things.

1) Add more content.
2) Building backlinks - There is no need to email people for links. Those methods are crap and they are not effective any more. There are many other methods of building links.

Yes, it would take time. There is no gain without pain :)

If you dont have time, outsource it to a good link builder.
