I'm curious about landing pages and the whole idea behind designing them. Say you are a member of Clickbank or anyone of these networks. You locate a product to promote, now do you redesign a pitch page for this product or do you buy a link - link it to the original pitch page and attract traffic to it?

If the idea is you have to redesign a whole new and unique pitch page how do you go about linking to the necessary videos files, audios, order form? Is this something you talk out with the owner of the product or your affiliate and they will provide you with the material? What is the science over here?

The reason I'm asking this is because a lot of the pitch pages I'm finding all look out of date or graphically uninviting. If someone can tell me a little more like they were talking to a 5 year old I will really appreciate it.

I apologize to anyone who finds this post annoying I'm just a little too human and trying to learn.:costumed-smiley-015

My understanding of a landing page is to be a portal between your advertising and the affiliate offer.

As an example you create and Adwords campaign for bike tyres rather then your campaign going direct to your affiliate link it goes to your landing page first and then links from there go to your affiliate url.

That is my understanding of them and I am sure alot of people here will be of a bit more help then I am.

2 things.
Google will not let multiple advertiser run offers to the same domain, so thus landing pages are a necessity

Use your landing page to pre sell the customer so when they click through, they are already convinced they want to sign up/buy/whatever

rileypool thanks, some of the info in your thread cleared some confusions.
ratamiss I see and to remedy this Google policy a Landing Page thus allow multiple publishers to link to specific pages on the main offer site, correct?

My only other question is with Clickbank since all their products come with their Landing Page do you guys who promote ClickBank products normally link directly to the ClickBank Market or order form or do you send your customers to the original Landing Page and hope they see the order button?

Actually I decided to dig my way through ClickBank and they have more than enough information on the site regarding what publishers can and cannot do.

Correct and remember it is important to make several landing pages to split test. You would be surprised how a minor change can impact your sales. I changed a picture on one of my landing pages and sales went up 30%.

When you split test, are you talking about using multiple separate domains for the same campaign or just rotating out different pages on the same domain?

Using different domains isnt necessary, I typically use subdomains.
i.e. landingpage1.domain.com, landingpage2.domain.com, landinpage3.domain.com

Some people use php to to rotate it automatically but this is the easiest way for me.
