IM close to getting the VPS3 with them for a few sites of mine and some scripts.

Hows their support - is it really fast and 24/7 like in WiredTree?
ALso is there any discount coupons for the machines? I see only 2009 talks on webhostingtalk

Hit me with opiniosn for mcurrent clients or staff if theres anybody here.

I used to host with them. Support was usually quick and decent. I liked them better than 1&1, HostGator, and WiredTree.

Last August they had a big data center outage that lasted all day and didn't provide any customer notification or compensation. They said the one employee with their twitter password was on vacation and just seemed slightly incompetent overall during the outage.

I left for StormOnDemand/Liquidweb after that and have been very happy with the switch.

I have to say that i am very happy with Knownhost for a few years now. That outage was due to a power outage at the datacenter which actually affected quite a few hosting companies if i remember correctly..

Their support is very fast and they get things done. We have 2 vps with them and will probably get more once we need them..

Got 3 VPs with them. Use the coupon from their webhostingtalk thread to get 10% off. Not on laptop now so can't check. Top notch everytime. I also have LW WT and SI. this is as good as any in terms of support

Oh yeah? I got my credit for my VPS being down during that fiasco. It just took some bitching.

I started with HostGator VPS, had some crap always happening, so I switched to KnownHost. Well, I liked the WiredTree offer and moved to them for an entire month of outage hell. Went back to KnownHost, this time with a hybrid VPS, and love it.

uh some badass stuff here. if they dont know how to install DA what about Cpanel which im actually goign trought? liquidweb i hear only good stuff but too expensive for the small server i need. im scared of the 99,9% uptime without SLA and u guys say they didnt compensate..

any more words should i be scared of them or go for liquidweb then?

I have CPanel just fine.. Just tell them the settings or you need to check the setting once it is installed.
Like they forgot to turn on my Cpanel back up by default. But that's it..

My KnownHost server had cpanel too and it seemed fine.

They were really not that bad with the exception of that one random long downtime due to some big failure at the datacenter. I would still pick them over WiredTree after experiencing both.

For the price, KH is solid. Been using them for years and still have vps (s) with them.
Every once in a while you'll get a teir one tech thats dumb as fuck, but a simple bitch gets it handled quickly.

One thing you wouldn't expect especially on older hardware, is plenty of spiking ability on their nodes compared to WT and LW. I've had them all simultaneously and mirrored the same sites and WT sucked compared to KH it terms of load time / resource usage, WHILE being more expensive.

aha okay! thats good news.

but their SLA is funny: SLA - Service Level Agreement - KnownHost - The world's best known VPS provider | Virtual Private Servers | Hybrid Servers | Shared Hosting
KnownHost is not responsible for downtime related to the services listed below and as such will not issues credits for the following:

  1. Internal services such as MySQL, Apache, PHP, etc.
  2. Scheduled downtime or planned maintenance
  3. Interruption of service due to unpaid invoices, abuse notifications and violations of TOS
  4. ISP or local connection problems
  5. Customer-controlled downtime
  6. Acts of Force Majeure

wtf with point 4, thats almost all cases [sure can be HW but thats rather rare thing]

They're talking about YOUR ISP, not their datacenter. You'd be really surprised by the amount of idiots that request a credit and bitch about downtime... because their cable modem wasn't working. I wish I was joking.
