Cool. I built one of these way back when tinyurl was the major one. Ran the site, and sold the code to others. Didn't make a lot but it was my first ever 'product' I think.

Edit: and it was the first site I ever sold links on.
Damn I miss that site lol.

I think most devs have wrote a url shortener at some point. Although the geotargetting feature looks legit.

Looking nice ... a short video on typical options will be great for novice users (this service may be helpful - http://www.wickedfire.com/links-seo/174526-explain-your-business-60-secs.html)

What extra you offer then bit.ly ? (One extra was Geo targeting I noticed)

They are established one and if you want to get pass to them then you need to capitalise those things in which they are lack of.

Would love to see your reply on extra offer from you.

Best of luck for your new ventures ... checked your blog as well, nice one.

it was about time someone took the initiative to create a new URL shortening service. Well done.

Owned a couple of url shorteners like 5-6 years ago, got buttloads of traffic and then buttloads of complaining emails as the urls were used for spamming web/email/fucking everything. Even complaints to the host. Made a bit of money off the ad revenue, but spent a lot of time trying to police the urls and the complaints. Ended up deleting the site.

Just installed this on a site for internal use only, it allows you to turn off user registrations etc. Very simple to install, good admin panel as well. PHP Scripts - Shortix

What's your plan for it ?

How you are going to promote it ?

Is it simply for fun or any serious business thought ?

As mikeshinobi mentioned several other such kind of service available and many of them just created and forgotten ?

Two experienced friends raised vital point as well ... any planning for it ...

Did I miss something? Is there any reason not to use Bitly?

I had the exact same wordpress theme on dlife.co, doing the same thing. About a month after I began promoting it, it was bombed using shorteners for comment spam to adult stuff. Be careful.

The site looks beautiful, good job on the design. its great.

BUT get ready to be raped by spammers once its found.

- Build in some filters so spammers cant register 100s or 1000s of URLs en masse.
- Have some kind of system setup so when their URL is naughty and you nuke it you can redirect it to your owner lander and make some ad impression $$ off the still incoming traffic

and shit son. close/protect some of those ports on that box!

I like your design, looks really nice.

My brain is conditioned to go to bitly everytime I need to shorten, just because I've been doing it for so long.

Like many others, I made a url shortening service just for my own social media posting automation and even then I forgot to use it or used bitly or Googles url shortner.

Yea definitely watch that your domain doesn't get put on a "list" on BHW and those other forums, next thing you know your domain will be part of ever blackhats scrapebox url shortening add on and you'll get nothing but spam/complaints.

oh yea and close those freaking netbios ports lol why are you using a windows server?
