I have been interested in Internet Marketing for a little over a month now. In that space of time I have seen more Ebook offers, programs, and opportunities being distributed by other IM to IM than anything else. I understand that in this industry there are those who have special talents in coding, writing, etc and are taking advantage of the opportunity. However, my problem is with everyone who is "making' $200-$2000 a day, minute or hour who is selling something to another person in the industry.
I am a bit disgusted already! Please forgive me if this sounds negative, because that is not my purpose with this post. I have determined that I will NOT purchase anything else from a "guru" who is "out to help me get my business rolling'" I am not a member of nearly a dozen or so forums, I have concluded that there is enough FREE information out there to get anyone started.

Oh, while on that point, I see GETTING STARTED as being the biggest problem for EVERY new marketer. Finding a niche and developing it. Maybe I should write an Ebook on that? For those newbies that are reading this post, understand that the free ebooks, forum posts and case studies that can be found here and on other forums are golden. I am convinced that after spending about $75 or so, there isn't anything in these "secret" systems that you cannot dig up in a forum post.

Here is a freebie though:

1. Read the personal and life sections of newspapers for niche ideas.
2. Use free keyword search tools to ferret out the niche opportunities
3. Learn some basic HTML coding. It's not hard. On Blogger.com, when you sign up for a blog, in the FAQ, they answer questions on how to use HTML
4. Get a website started. Find a host. There are a bunch of people who can help you with finding a decent host site.
5. Read the free material out there on the net to understand what SEO,ADWORDS,ADSENSE and ARBITRAGE mean. These will be helpful to your overall success.
6. Finally, unless, you have previous experience in marketing, web design, or sales, you MOST LIKELY will not make a ton of money immediately(read overnite, first campaign, or in the next hour). Understanding this one point, means you will be here six months from now. As far as I can tell from lurking the many sites and reading the material out there, IMers usually have a false idea of Internet Marketing as being "a get rich quick" thingie.

I think that the Case Study on Arbitrage is golden. Stuff like that is what was so helpful to me. Actually seeing someone take a step by step approach was a big learning tool. Thanks Wildfire.

You're right on many points. All those people claiming to make hundreds or thousands a day are selling the same bullshit over and over to unsuspecting newbies.

The people who are actually making hundreds a day are not giving out their secrets, and won't be writing e-books (most of hte people here)

There's no need to write an e-book. Seriously the only way newbies will learn is to just jump into it. The only secret formula out there is what you learn on your own. I just started AM in the beginning of April, and I realized its just a matter of trying out different niches and seeing if it works. If it does, improve, if it doesn't, dump it.

Nice post.

I think you've found the right forum - post stuff like that in certain other forums and you'll get flamed by all the so called gurus or banned for daring to suggest that someone might not make $1m a minute by buying an ebook!
