Is it bad to edit indexed pages?

I have a new site and it went up and down for my main keyword in rankings, but lately I've been going through all the pages and fixing tags, cleaning the content up, fixing any errors etc and now I'm not ranking at all...

It's probably because of the editing, it didn't happen instantly but I'm guessing that's what caused it. Have my pages been taken off and put in the cheque for indexing again?

Is it bad to edit pages at all once they're up?

Updating pages should actually help your rankings.

Don't be afraid to change your pages.

But, you can fuckup your ranking. So if you are make good money, I wouldn't change anything. I would make a new site.

Google likes fresh content. Just keep adding new content to your site.

Adding content is different from changing content

Is not bad at all. Make a copy, apply your changes , wait few hours-days till Google discover changes if your changes didnt make positive impact and you drop in ranking than restore previous version.
However you might drop because you lost your fresh site bonus.
