iPad vs Others?

I'm in the market for a tablet - I need something I can read .pdf documents and watch downloaded movies with without having to be at the desk.

Thinking about getting an iPad but came across a cheap little discontinued device from HP that looks pretty decent.

Found this picture which I thought was funny..

Any other recommendations for tablets?

i have the 32gb 3g.. never used the 3g yet

it's pretty cool if I don't feel like breaking out the MBP and just chilling out... or throwing a movie on for my kid on a long car ride.

netflix is the game changer and skpe calls from the couch are nice!

more of a toy and high priced portable pr0n device!

to my knowlegde there really isn't any "others" out at the moment...and you don't want one running a desktop operating system...which basically leaves you to iPad, iPad, or...iPad...or all these other tablets that get shown at electronics shows then get abandoned before production...

What is so great about the apple software ? the biggest advantages I've been hearing about it is the speed: changing between programs is fast and it boots up fast. But I would trade speed for something a little more slower as long as it can multitask.

you're starting to make it seem like you want your tablet to do the same as your laptop...if that's the case...don't get an ipad...because it's not meant to replace a laptop...it's meant to be used differently...

and once it gets teh OS update in the fall, my guess is late september...it will multitask...

I use a Fujitsu Stylistic 5032D with OSX installed on it.
