I used to be a fan of mmorpgs, a lot of my youth was spent playing diablo 2 and WoW; and I’m sure more then a few of you can relate to this, whatever the game was.

Ever since I started Internet marketing it has fully replaced yet fulfilled all of the enjoyment I used to get from those games.

Instead of collecting x amount of arduously named animal skin to "level up" its a game of collecting links, personal achievements, rankings, higher EPC.

Every once and a while I’ll be doing something to do with a site and it’ll bring me the same feelings I came across while playing those games.

Logging onto an old /wp-admin site feels a lot like logging onto an old character you haven’t played in a while; looking at how you set up the plug-ins, decked out the layout, etc.

Outsourcing work to a virtual assistant feels like hiring a mercenary - instead of hooking the brother up with a sweet spear or pike, I’ll buy him rapebox, senuke, and if he’s ever ready lol xrumer

What other similarities have you guys noticed?

lmfao you get one set, and they won't be tig ol' bitties

I don't know. There's nothing in IM comparable to cybering with an elf-maiden.

haha i know the feeling bro

Like f5ing your stats feels like you have the high score in a game. and then you see you past stats and get motivated to get your score(stats) higher than the day before.

Funny as I had the same reflection to one of my friends the other day, I switched from Lineage 2 where I was making 2k/month to IM where I make 5x that with the same enjoyment :D it's all about the grind and pvp with competitors

Agree, except leveling in internet marketing makes you better off in real life, but leveling in WoW makes you worse off in real life. Anyway I'll say one thing video games have taught me to stay focused on one task endlessly.

I used to be into the exact same combination, and spent an obscene amount of time over the years on D2 and WoW alone. I could write a book.

I can't say I get the same feeling from IM however. I'd probably get a lot more shit accomplished if that were the case.
