Ok, if I want to register a .in domain, what should I know? What's the best place to register one that takes paypal? I've heard the red tape over there is stifling so curious if there are any residency restrictions, ie can anyone anywhere in the world register a .in? I see one of my 4 letter keywords XXXX.in is available and I sure would like to grab it.

Yup, Porn is not allowed. And no, there are absolutely no residence restrictions. And btw where did you hear about the "red tape"?

Porn is illegal in India if I'm not mistaken, but I've seen a lot of people reg. porn names without a problem. We will see what happens if they develop them.

I got some of mine from pubdomains.in, the .in domains are priced $3.75 !

I would just go on price. All these guys are resellers and they are taking a loss so that next year you will have all your .in's with them and will renew at $13+. It's a good strategy. When everyone's charging the same renewel rate next year, I doubt anyone is going to change registrars. If I had the time/ money, I would get into this game.

Thanks, there do seem to be some keyword rich .in domains out there and the price is right. The LLLL.in in question is a 4 letter acronym with about 3,500,000 search results on Google. The only thing holding me back is whether I want to develop yet another site in this niche.

Lord Brar, I heard about the legendary red tape from some 20/20 Special. In Calcutta, they showed how it takes months to get approval to open a business. That said, I understand other states are more keen on business growth and some of the red tape has been eliminated.
