Ok, I spent around 4 months reading about AM before I took action. I am 18 and I am trying to make money for college later this year. I thought that if I could get this to work, I could do it during school. I have a credit card witha 1k limit and around 2k in other funds. I started out with Facebook. I've ran dating, scholarships, email submits and finally zip submits. I recently did zip submits and got killed. In total I have made around 100 dollars revenue and ended up with around 160 in costs. Thats my AM bio. Does anyone have any advice for me? I'm starting to get discouraged.

Thanks!

quit while you're ahead.
He is trying cut him some slack.

I would say read and read. If you are on a small budget you really need to watch your stats. Though Facebook is a good place to start you should really try other avenues.

From what I have been reading lately try a phpbay site. They are low cost and if you can market it right should give you some decent returns.

One thing you want to do is never limit yourself to one thing. PPC, SEO, SEM whatever always try new thing to see where you fit in best.

Yeah, cut your losses, cut and run. Facebook is the easiest way to do AM-no keyword research, no quality score, nothing. Really, if you can't make money on Facebook with dating, you won't make money with anything.

Go work at McDonalds.

I'd say do some more reading before trying any more campaigns....but what do I know, I haven't even ran my first campaign yet so technically I'm more of a newbie than you are.

The thing about Facebook though is that you can't track properly. There's really no way to do research for Facebook ads...you kinda take a shot in the dark. From what I've read, you should start out with Yahoo/MSN and work your way up to AdWords. Facebook comes last.. if at all.

PPC marketing success comes from testing...deleting unprofitable keywords, working on eCPC, conversion rates, landing page design, etc....you don't get that with Facebook ads. These are just basic stuff...I haven't even read a lot about the "out-of-the-box" stuff (usually kept secret).

lol the irony here is that I work at McDonald's right now and am trying to quit by working online full-time. Not a terrible job in itself, but doesn't pay nearly enough.

Keep testing. Pay attention to other Facebook campaigns - which ones stick around longer than others? Put yourself in the mindset of a typical FB user, get out of the marketing mindset.

If FB is not your boat, there's a million and one other ways to profit. Keep reading, and more importantly, keep testing.

Not true, FB has a very over saturated dating market. I wouldn't taunt someone to go into it not knowing how the system works - that would be suicide.

crack sales > PPC

I don't know. We make that kind of money and don't even need to stand on the corner. And we can still play rick ross and 50. Just in the safety of our homes :D

To the OP, don't give up, you're not that far away from making shit work. Remember to use redirects off Facebook so you can test landing pages vs. direct linking, etc.
