"..next week, at the AMA's national meeting in Chicago, delegates will vote on a recommendation that "Internet/video-game addiction" be classified as a formal diagnosis."

"The AMA vote would be only a first step, because it then would pass the baton to the American Psychiatric Association, which publishes the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the primary handbook used to diagnose mental illnesses and disorders."

AMA to vote on "internet/video-game addiction" as medical condition: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Internet addiction has got to be the wimpiest addiction out there. Not to mention all the stupidity surrounding it. I mean if a parent thinks their kid is addicted to the internet, why are they bringing the kid to a doctor? Take away the computer and sign the kid up for football or something. Problem solved.

Great another form of no self control on it's way to becoming a "disease".

Despite what what people think diseases don't have to be biological, they can also be psychological. Also the cause (no self control) doesn't make the disease less real. Addictions of any form can be considered diseases.

Anyone know of an affiliate program for the drug that fixes this addiction disease? ;)

Yeah when used very loosely. But these types of "diseases" always come with the tag "I will have it forever even though I don't have that addiction anymore thanks to my VGA bullshit blah blah blah".

It all falls under I don't have any fucking self control.
