I want to create a startup within a year. I am good in PHP / database concepts and I can code through day and night. Can some kind people share ideas about market reserach before taking the plunge? :yin-yang:

When you're asking something from someone, always ask yourself why they would help you out. If you don't have an answer to that question, don't ask.

If you do want a genuine response, throw in an incentive. Even a good boobie picture would work for some. Can't just expect things to be handed over you know?

Well, here is an idea.

A robot, like on your avatar, - no, no, much prettier - who gives gentle handjobs to gay webmasters.

While singing this song on full volume around a clock:

You could embed an image in your signature when posting in various affiliate marketing forums, such as this, and collect affiliate's IP addresses.

With this you could build an subscription based system that allows subscribers to embed a line of Javascript on their landing pages and when someone visits that page with an IP you've collected, they get redirected to a landing page of the owners choice.

Make a startup that creates profiles on all dating websites and then messages all women in the users area periodically. Basically automate how much time men waste on dating websites and essentially the only women that will make contact with them are ones worthy of their attention (women who responded to their message).

Men would pay for such a thing. Not me though, I just made my own.

Wiser thing has never been said.

You need three things to create a successful startup: to start with good people, to make something customers actually want, and to spend as little money as possible. Most startups that fail do it because they fail at one of these. A startup that does all three will probably succeed.

And that's kind of exciting, when you think about it, because all three are doable. Hard, but doable. And since a startup that succeeds ordinarily makes its founders rich, that implies getting rich is doable too. Hard, but doable.

If there is one message I'd like to get across about startups, that's it. There is no magically difficult step that requires brilliance to solve.

See kickstarter for an idea. Make a product or system that fix people problem or make their life better, more conveinient

Sadly, your skill-set is of an employee not an entrepreneur. If it was the other way around you wouldn't be asking such questions. Ideas are a dime a dozen it's execution, and follow-through that makes it happen. IF you're stuck on the idea stage, and you've been online for any amount of time with development skills there's 100000s of issues that need "fixed" you could do, not being aware of any = not an entrepreneur, in reality... The brains work a bit different ;)

Sadly, if you can't come up with 1 or need to be told then you need to get a job working for someone.

The truth is most people want to run a business, start a website of their own, etc... very few follow through or put in the research/time/etc to do it... no one is going to be there to hold your hand the entire time. You need to be able to handle rejection, problems, etc.. and you're not off to a great start with anything.

I would recommend you to hook up with different things related to different niches so that you can check your potential, if you want to make market research , try google trends and high keyword searches.

Create a free app that does some dumb shit which people love (like swipe left to catch fish and left not to catch fish) and then put ads on it!

Sorry - if you are trying to get free ideas that make money - goodluck with that lazy ass!!
