Ok so I am a noob at all of this affiliate marketing stuff and was trying to figure out the different ways to start a campaign.
Is the most common way just to create a site that talks about different aspects of the "problem" and then has a single page about your product and how it can fix the "problem"?
What about just creating a blog site with a good domain name then writing multiple unique blog postings relating to the product and then just having a seperate buy page on that site?
Is it possible to market a product without a domain? Just by posting on free blogs sites and then linking to your affiliate link for the product?

I understand what affiliate marketing is but am just confused as to how people get started in a campaign.

Any links to guides on this or just answers and discussion about this would really help me out.

Another question is that I own a domain name and the site is basically just a blog about completely random things (recent news, random facts, tips, sports news, etc) and I was wondering if I could just make a page on the site I already own and market my campaign from there? I know the site is nothing special since it really isn't a niche but i'm basically using it as a test site to get the hang of seo techniques, backlinking, working wordpress and different plugins, etc.

I will stay subscribed and post more questions as to how to start a campaign as I find answers to my previous questions.

Thank you all in advance for the help.

Well, I'm new to affiliate marketing myself but what I did was pick a product I wanted promote and threw up a quick WP based review site. I used adCenter and adWords for PPC promotion. I also started a few Facebook ad campaigns direct linking to some decent offers.

Hope that helps a bit...

w/regards to your second question, i used to do that but i think you better have to have a different domain for diffrent niche/types of offers..
