Yes, it still qualifies as news :)

Oh I know... I just wanted to let people know. Didn't want them poking around everywhere trying to figure out how to do this or something.

i wonder how much the guy made.

Alexa had the site pretty high, like the top 2,000, so I'm guessing he made big bucks. But I'm also guessing he was probably banned from Adsense.

I really hope no one tries to emulate it. Certainly not the most ethical of ways to make money.

Probably a whole heap but hopefully Google managed to not send him the money invalidating the account before he managed to cash out.

Yea I didn't even think about that... but I bet he didn't make all that much, at least not from Adsense. He probably never even got his first check.

I wonder if google fixed their algorithm or did this by hand. Howd you like to be the engineer told to remove 5.5 billion pages.

I've been trying to find the article I read... but I cant. Its where Google talked about how they fixed it, I'm 99% positive they fixed it via algorithm.

After reading that, it kinda makes me want to make WickedFire the 100th most popular site on the web..

I really don't see how this is brilliant. A rather obvious idea that probably didn't net him much cash, since it was only listed in google for a few days, and he most likely never received an adsense or ypn check since he got caught for tos violation before his first check would have come. So he's left with huge bandwith costs, and no cash to show for it. Every search engine will have junk get in occasionally, and google responded rapidly.

Goodluck! :)

Just curious, as of now how many of the top 100 websites do you own? Dont have to give me names... just a number.

If you look at the alexa list, I'm guessing zero. The top one hundred mostly have known owners. But I've been wrong before, so Jon?
