How to monetize freeware?

Hi,

I have a nice little piece of software that is getting about 1500 downloads per day and I am searching for a way to monetize this software. I am thinking about integrating a toolbar software into the installation process (users sees a option to additionally install the toolbar) like Ask or Yahoo toolbar but I cannot find anything.

What would you suggest? Do you have some other ideas or do you know some affiliate networks that can do this?
 


It is just a smart helper for people who don't know how to open files if windows doesn't know the file.
 
Just straight up email Ask, Yahoo and SearchMe about the toolbar. They are big on that stuff. Besides that, ads within the software, up sell to a paid version and email registration.
 
I already tried to contact them 5 days ago but it seems like they don' t want to do this kind of stuff with small fishes because I never heard anything back...thanks for the additional tipps.
 
Try to find a CPA offer related to the software and build a sales page around it - then include the file in the download pack.

Yeah, that is what I wanted to do. I wanted to integrate a Zwinky/Screensaver download offer to my software (into the installer process so the user can choose if they want to have the offer) but no one of the affiliate networks wants to do this...
