Someone has a domain I want to make an offer on. The whois is private and the site isn't pointed to a server, is there any way to contact the owner? :crap:

Yeah, send an email to the address listed in the private whois. It will be forwarded to the owner. Also, make sure to grab the address fresh when you're ready to send the email because some services randomly regenerate the email addresses regularly to make them less useful to spammers. Every private whois service I've ever used maps the email addresses listed in the private whois record for my sites back to my email address, so your email will get to the owner directly.

Run the whois query directly with the domain registrar, some whois services cache results ( probably domaintools.com does ) so you might be writing to an outdated email alias.

Need to sell by domain

Hi mate,
im selling my .com domain, if you interested please PM me.

Ru - you may also google "@domain.com" to find potential contact information if
the owner has ever posted using the branded email address.

Of course there's always the blind-shotgun approach, emailing an initial inquiry to:

sales, admin, contact, help, owner@domain.com.

Even if the appropriate email is not included in your list, your email may be caught in the domain owner's "catch all" email address and be forwarded.

Good luck, lets know what happens!

DomainTools has whois history, sometimes you can see who owned it before it went private, contact them that way. Do some google snooping to see if anyone talks about owning it, contact info at that domain, etc.
