Google Adwords QS System is really annoying. Although I masked my affiliate link in my landing page, my QS has never been more than 6/10. Mostly, they are 1-5/10. It's crazy. How to beat the new QS system? Any luck, affiliate marketers?

Highest I've had was a 6. What happend to the good ol Poor, Ok and Excellent ey?

MSN and Yahoo convert very nicely if you haven't tried them yet.

I am going crazy with there new system. One of my PPC clients (not an affiliate site) has always been 8/10 for its own brand, and they are a name brand in the industry. This morning it dropped to 6/10 and the clicks are costing me nearly double for the same position on their company name.

Something is definetly flawed.

Here is what google says

Quality Score for Google and the Search Network
While we continue to refine our Quality Score formulas for Google and the search network, the core components remain more or less the same:
  • The historical clickthrough rate (CTR) of the keyword and the matched ad on Google; note that CTR on the Google Network only ever impacts Quality Score on the Google Network—not on Google
  • Your account history, which is measured by the CTR of all the ads and keywords in your account
  • The historical CTR of the display URLs in the ad group
  • The quality of your landing page
  • The relevance of the keyword to the ads in its ad group
  • The relevance of the keyword and the matched ad to the search query
  • Your account's performance in the geographical region where the ad will be shown
  • Other relevance factors
Though they also say the LP isn't as important any more. It still is, just not as much since QS is calculated on a search by search basis now.

I think they just changed something with the QS. I used to have all 8/10-9/10, but everything dropped to 5/10-6/10.

Even my content site with 0 affiliate links and 100s of pages of unique content wont get over 5/10, some groups are even 2/10.

Most likely if you havent been hit by it, you proboably will.

Maybe they just dropped all QS across the board, or maybe they are hitting whole accounts. Its fucking confusing.
Hopefully they'l roll it back, becase it doesnt make any sense

It's all about the targeting: tighter ad groups & keyword grouping will improve relevancy (to the search query and otherwise). This will also increase your CTR, so it's a win-win if done properly. Good luck :)

when my CTR was less than 2%, my QS was 6/10. Then it goes up to 2.5% but my QS brought down to 3/10. Why is that?

Pic related, it's for one of my keywords. :eek7:

Ok, so i had something that kept getting slapped. But i had done everything i though i needed to do, tons of new content, updates, new domains, new MCC accounts. Kept getting slapped.

Then i read something somewhere on google that the general site content has something to do with it. That pages had to be honest, something along those lines.

It was a zip submit and the copy was all driving to that action (in my ad and on my page). But to get what i promised, you had to join. But my ads and pages did'nt really mention it.

So i rewordked all my copy and added some different ads and stuff.

My Ad ctr and conversions def took a hit. But it's still pretty profitable. I'll i'll be working in some of the old elements slowly.

But i've been up for 5 days (longer than i was able to stay up before) and my QS is still 6/10. So not sure if that did the trick. But it may have..

i think they are just tweaking the scores now, maybe 5/10 now is the same as 7/10 was a week ago. Maybe its like pagerank, it doesnt really mean whole lot. As long as you are still getting impressions and the CPC is the same.

I have plenty of content, and a good CTR, its not in a sketchy niche. Theres got to be another reason.

There is a major factor that no one is mentioning here. When someone clicks your ad, sees your landing page, then hits the back button real quick, google will know this and your QS will take a big shit. Make sure your landing page holds their interest, matches what your ad says (especially the headline).

If you use tracking202, turn on 'show all clicks' (not only real clicks). Occasionally you'll see the click happy schmuck click your ad. Go to your LP. Click your offer link super fast (he didn't read shit) and then hit the back button all the way back to google. You'll see a red icon and his IP address again when he does this. Google will log this info as well.

This is most likely to happen with an ad that promises absolute bullshit that is irresistable and must be clicked. Of course they'll click, and of course they'll hit the back button when they confirm your ad was untrue.
