You ping the URL where you got the link from. It wouldn't make sense to ping your website URL because then the search engines wouldn't credit your backlink.

Well, pingomatic.com is probably the most authentic, I guess. ALL wordpress
blogs use pingomatic.com by default to send a ping every time a post is
published.

They have a form you can use on their site.
