How much Javascript is too much Javascript??

I want to make my next site as easy as possible for newbs to navigate, and I've been using javascript to do that, I'm just wondering what you think too much javascript per page is. Atm I have a drop down menu, and a popup box when you click on an image, and i'll probly end up addin an ajax tabs script, is this beginning to become too much?

Tricky question. If it really enhances the navigation/user experience its worth it. If you're just adding the stuff because it looks neat, it might not be worth it. For the AJAX stuff are you doing stuff that only changes one particular area of a page? If so then you might want to keep it, otherwise maybe not. You may also be able to change the js dropdown menu to CSS and still maintain most of the looks if you search around for css menu examples.
