I remember I would take weeks to build a static HTML site when I was a beginner, but right now I'm deploying multiple CMS sites a week, I guess when clients order in bulk it puts the pressure on me and I invent new ways to become more efficient and stuff.

Heres a tip:

-when you build a lot of similar CMS sites, build a no-content version of them, download the files and the databse. Next time you build a similar site just upload those files and import the databse, this way you skip the whole installation/customisation process. You just need to change some paths in config files.

I do the exact same thing. Im actually working on the backend of my custom CMS so I can start to roll out quite a few sites in a short period of time. Its being built in PHP where 90% of the html is generated by PHP scripts.

I definately can't see the advantages of building all html pages by hand any more.

It will save loads of time, esspecially the error checking and other unexpected stuff that occurs when you launch a completely new site. By having your own template you know how everything works and what to be wary about when using it again for a new site.

I used joomla and when i tried doing this joomla kept trying to find the installation folder. You know what could be the problem?

you might want to open a seperate thread for this, but have you checked your path double-settings that you need to set as explained in te install guide?

I just outsource all my work now ;)

0 to live in under 7 days now lol
I can build a website in 1 day but it's the content that comes along slowly, I need to keep a close eye on my writers or else they start writing poorly.

Use wordpress, and then put an article up per day, with 15 up before launch, than market away. Start one each day. Make millions. Write worthless book. Make billions. The rich get richer. Make trillions. It all seems so simple when you put it that way, right?

i had a spurt of makin content sites, and i'd make bout 3 an hour, sell em for $30 each :)
then ppl stopped buyin em so i gave up :p

Maybe you were selling them too close together? :p When people notice you're just churning them out it tends to devalue them (at least in my eyes).

Yeah, try selling at different forums and to different people.

I really take my time with all of my sites... I get tons and tons of thigns laid out before I launch anything.

Its just the way I am... dont like putting things up half-finshed or not having a good idea of how I'm going to bring traffic in.

I will eventually. Might spend time makin like 100 content sites, then sell em 3 a week, on 3 different forums. This is suddenly motivating me :p

I've been popping out a site everyday for the last month. I've done this before, I then the spend the next month adding content and fine tuning the beasts.

where did you sell em and with how much content?
Maybe I can get some quick cash too that way.

I just sold em at DNforum.com
I'd use content from those free content directories, spend a few minutes designin em, leave em a few days, then sell em. Getting PR raises the value quite a bit tho.
