I'm using a Linux Vserver hosting provider which had to recover my site from a hard drive failure. I almost lost the site!

I am using phpMyBackupPro to backup the database every six hours and it is working great. But how can I backup the entire site completely? The entire ubuntu system image is 38 gigabytes, which is way too much to backup over a residential link, even once a month. Is there some service that provides online backup for a remote linux system? Without a complete recovery system I might as well

You don't have to backup all system. Usually your data reside in /home directory, or sometimes /var/www. Some panels use their own directories.

I recommend to use some remote backup script. Like this for example: .:: linux howtos ~ rdiff-backup ::.

/public_html/ is another common one

or if you're on dreamhost, they're simply /domainname/

Course you may also have to login to mysql and whatever other database you use and back up some .sql files that way.
