OK so here is what I'm thinking let me know if this is possible / good idea.

I'm looking to place a server overseas and host some of my landing pages there, and I'm just wondering if it would be worth it.

One of the reasons is not having to deal with C&D's and other shit like that.

I have connections in a few countries and am willing to personally fly to a country and set up a server myself but I just wanted to get some input on what country would be best for this.

Unless shit's changed in the past few years: Korea, China, Brazil, Eastern Europe.
Korea has some pretty damn fast connections too.

Essentially find the countries the anti (email) spammers get all pissed off at or blacklist entirely. There's your bulletproof hosting.

Thanks for the information, does anyone else have any info on hosting sites overseas and if there is any protection to C&D's?

I'm actually looking to straight up set up a personal server at a rented or friends location the only person being involved is the ISP providing me my internet connection.

Has anyone else here tried it?

There's never formal protection from C&Ds. Complaints are easy enough, and some hosts will also just ignore that kind of crap. But it's never a black and white arrangement.
If you know anyone that is/was a non compliant mailer, I suggest you contact them.

Ok thx, one more question.

Say I do host this website in like Brazil or something, tiny shack style and they a company cannot C&D that site for a trademark infringement or something, that still would not stop the company from going to say MSN, Yahoo! or Google and be like shut down there campaigns right?

Yeah. You'll be shut down there, and if you really piss someone off I suppose they could contact the affiliate network(I know I would).
As for ISPs, some to look into(or find a reseller for): CNCGroup, ChinaNet, KoreaNet/KorNet.
Koreanet's got some badass 100mbps lines that are actually really fast dealing with traffic to the United States.

Here's the thing about hosting in countries that don't have to respect nor abide by copyright laws of other countries : It's worthless if you don't take the means to conceal your own identity, as while the host may not be liable, you still are liable as an american citizen.

Santrex have dedicated servers for hire in France, Germany, Netherlands & China. They allow everything except child porn in most locations. I don't know if they are any good, I've never used them.

Only bad thing is that they charge $35/mo for a cpanel license, which is kinda like overcharging for postage on ebay.

Agreed.
Most of the companies/people that offer this kind of hosting aren't really companies though (no records, etc).
Back when I used to get servers like this, it was a contact on instant messenger(from China) who accepted payment by WU/Epass. No website. No company. Also would register domains for ya.
It definitely adds a massive level of complexity for anyone trying to track you down.

Can you PM me there contact info please.

thx.

I'm interested in this too, looking for a fast bulletproof server. The one's I've seen charge a pretty hefty premium- $500 or more a month for a slow-ass server.

Drop me a message with AIM info.
Just talked to my old guy. It's a little tricky to understand him sometimes, but it's $380-$500/mo (china/korea).

All ping times are 200-260ms right now off my piss poor cable connection (just checked 4 DCs), and the korean servers are on a shared 100mbit line. So not blazing fast, but they're in asia(not many ways to get around that)

I've used the guy before for years and had no problems. But that wasn't for PPC, so I can only give a recommendation, not a vouch really.

Some quick numbers(I'm on wifi+shitty comcast connection, so these are out of domaintools):
Korea DC1:
DomainTools: 155ms ping time
Korea DC2:
DomainTools: 139ms ping time
Korea DC3:

DomainTools: 133ms ping time
China DC 1:
Domaintools: 219ms ping time

Oh yeah, he regs domains too. And no, there's not a company website.

And do me a favor and don't do ridiculously illegal shit. I have no problem hooking people up to avoid annoyances, but I'd really like to not have men in dark suits at my door.
