About 17 hours ago I bought a domain from godaddy. Then I purchased a hosting plan from hostgator since they allow multiple domains under one account. $10 a month. Signed up and payed and they sent me an email telling me the nameservers and how to login to the cpanel.

To go to godaddy and put in the nameservers for the domain and wait.

17 hours later no signs of any propogation and this is unusually long time since most ofther hosts seem to do it in a few hours. I treid going to the cpanel setup: ww.mydomain.com/cpanel from different computers and get page not found message.

yea guess I have to wait the full 24-48 hours. has anyone else tried hostgator and found slow propogation? or it is godaddy fault for this?

godaddy domain purchase require confirmation time etc etc. you probably need to wait until they send u the cp login. then only the propagation time counting. actually godaddy is registra, and their NS service should b fast. i using them before, less than 24 hours.

If your on custom nameservers you will find DNS changes in less than 10 mins but I have always found if you use the GD parking service its takes hours to change

godaddy likes to make you wait 24hrs before domain changes.
and even then it'll take 24-48hrs to propagate widely.

at namecheap, my settings take effect immediately, though they need time to propagate through the domain mirrors.

i'm not aware the hosting affects it much, but then again, i'm primarily using bluehost and an hosting.

Thanks for the help guys

Im still waiting for the propogation. I'll give it another day and if that doesnt work i'll probably call godaddy or hostgator.

Godaddy will take more than 24 hours on that thing so just have patience for a while and it will be done as it’s a normal process for propagation.
