This has probably been done to death in other forums, but I want to know if Hostgator is a good choice for hosting a VB forum. The reason I choose hostgator is because the prices seem good, and I obviously don't want or need to start a brand new forum on anything more than a shared hosting server. But then if I should need to upgrade they do seem to offer good quality dedicated packages.

Sooo... is Hostgator a good choice to start and grow your VB forum?

Yes, I was happy with them till I had about 40-50 concurrent members. Then I had to upgrade to a VPS and sold the site.

So for a beginner, they are a good choice.

I had a bad experience with them. My forum kept crashing, and support tickets took 24-36 hours to even get looked at. I'm with LiquidWeb now and love them. Zero down time, I've upgraded from a VPS to a dedicated server and their customer service is top notch. They weren't any more expensive than host gator.

I believe SEO Mike has their link in his signature.
