Hey Guys,

More of a poll type of question -

What would you think if your web host become an ICANN Registrar? Would that be a + to host with them or ? What do you think?!

charlesgan thanks for your reply. Something to think about at least... I did look at your site... wasn't sure how to get in contact with you... do you have a contact form on there or how would ppl get in touch with you?

Thanks man.

I like companies who specialize in one thing only.

I agree. I had some domains I bought pushed to my godaddy account and thought, "hey they do hosting, why not". I was hoping to get my sites in some clean IP space, instead all I got was a headache while they tried to figure out if my nameservers should have been ns3 and ns4.secureserver.net or ns5 and ns6.secureserver.net - I've called tech support twice and I'm ready to dump them if this shit doesn't propagate by the morning.

It will be something that customers will be looking for. Being a registrar along with hosting will be a bonus for a company too. Company can offer better packages with best prices if they can provide domain registration service also.

Thanks for the info. Yea, the ICANN stuff will for sure add a big plus for the host. What I was also referring to was:

Everything working from the sec you buy the domain + hosting. So there isn't this how do I... ?

So the question was based around an ideal situation where everything works like it should....

like we can

Like if can directly register with them will provide the cheapest domain registration ever :d:rasta:

Yep.

I got off the call with them today... $6.00 for .com is VeriSign wholesale price...
.net is like 4.15 I think it was...

They make off us a couple of bucks for each new domain....

ICANN accredited registrar is certainly a great + but only then when this registration is combined with a good and totally reliable technical support and comprehensive web hosting service, otherwise really it is not that important where you registered your domain, if you are ok with the price, the most important thing is wether this very domain will be accessible or not, that is the question
