It may just be me, but it seems no matter how well the mod team here works there just seems to be more threads posted everyday than any one team can handle.

Several people have suggested starting a pay-per-thread policy which would work out great in my opinion but it's never been implemented. So I thought of another idea: begin holding threads for moderation before they're actually posted to the BST forums. This will probably bring up the question, "How do you expect the mod team to handle the influx of moderated threads?" While I'm not completely sure how to handle this one suggestion I have is to start a group of users who are established on WF that will volunteer to approve threads. It's not like the job would be that hard, but it would definitely keep down the amount of ebook, yahoo answer, blog posting, xrumer, and other shit threads that seem to pop up a few times daily.

I've got to say I agree here.

It seems that recently alot of Xrumer / link wheels have been popping up, offering basically the same service, minus one or two aspects. And most of them are by posters with less than 10-15 posts.

It's easy to obtain 10-15 posts within this forum, just in the "shooting the shit" section alone.

I didn't mind paying at W*F*, I just wasn't enjoying the experience. I'd have no problem here, nor would I mind keeping a bias eye on junk offers.

Glad you brought up linkwheels completely forgot about those threads. All of those providers either use the same concept or their linkwheel concept is so fucked up looking it's obvious they don't know what they're doing. While there are a handful of awesome linkwheel providers WickedFire is becoming saturated
 
I'm not sure that thread moderation will solve BST's problems. Most of the problems seem to be to do with the quality of the work, or they are just outright scammers. This cannot be seen until someone takes a review copy or they purchase the service, so moderating all the threads before people have a chance to check them out will just add more work to the mods plate without having any real value.

Lots of things have been suggested in the past (eg 100 post minimum, sellers paying for thread) but none of them seem to solve the problem completely.
 
I'm not sure how much a thread moderation team would help - recently, I saw a whole bunch of respected members buying a linkwheel for $10 from a guy who was just brokering from fiverr.
 
WarriorForum charges $40 for a WSO and they have more junk than ever.

I think the BST section is perfect the way it is.
 
Aren't they doing this anyway? I've been a member browsing these foums for a month but I'm too scared too post in most places after reading the rules :o I've just posted a thread in the BST forum and it said it won't be posted until it has been moderated... not sure how long this will be or even if I will be told when it will be live. Looks like your idea worked though.
 
I think it is the buyer duty to do his homework on which seller to trust. Reviews from established members gives the service a green light.
 
I'm more in favor of requiring 3 months membership + 50 posts to post in the BST. It's high enough to keep out drive by scammers, low enough that it wouldn't deter real members from offering their services, and easy enough to automate (with a simple vbulletin plugin) so the mods don't have to do any extra work.

That's a fantastic idea. I think newly registered members should be able to post replies on threads, but shouldn't be able to start actual threads. They'll have the opportunity to build up their reputation over those few months and then can dive right into selling without people being too skeptical. Good idea for both parties. :)
 
Being new here, and having read through the stickys, and reading current posts, it is not easy to figure out the current posting rules.

But based on this thread it looks like it's a matter of time before someone reviews a post I created in the BST section, yet exactly the amount of time it might take to get to my post and whether I'll be notified about the outcome of the review is not known. Is that right?

Yeah, I think the recent changes to start charging in BST aren't really improving the quality and as a buyer it's annoying because the thread closes after only 10 days so you usually don't get to see many reviews, if any.

I would like to see a different approach like holding threads in moderation.
