Ok, here is my first attempt in the arbi thing…
I’m sure I spent way too much time on the layout, but I want to build on this concept by adding a ton more niche topics.

I know a digital camera is not the best niche to use, but this was more a tutorial to familiarize myself with wordpress, css, and keyword targeting. I’m hardly getting any traffic, but I think that’s due to my keyword list and the actual ad I’m using.

Anyway, I’d like to get some feedback on the layout. I just want to make sure I’m working in the right direction before investing more time and effort.

This forum is invaluable…I value any input you can offer!!

Arbitrage is a very simple concept.

1. Images aren't a necessity. In your case, the images you have don't do anything for the layout.
2. You have SO MANY leaks. I counted over 15 leaks.

Go for simplicity. And the fuck would you use WP for? That's extremely unnecessary and a waste of server resources. You could just as easily put the same content on a static page.

I agree; from what I've read, an arbitrage site should be simple and precise. However, this is a site that I would like to add to and not just ditch in a month or so. My goal is to add anywhere from 100 to 200 more categories, each with their own separate page and campaign, of course.

Can you explain why the layout is horrible? I thought the ads blinded deceivingly well with the content. Isn't that the whole point?

I’ve read where some believe you should create the page to be as ugly as possible so the user will just click to leave, but others share the approach of investing time and effort into the layout and content.

Look at what other top bidding arbitragers are doing. This is not hard or fancy stuff.

Once I figure out how to drive a decent amount of traffic, I will crunch the numbers to research if my design is good or bad enough, depending on how you view it.

Writing good ads is my next goal.

I will say this, since I posted the topic, I've received 7 clicks totaling $1.25 You guys might be showing me some love with a few clicks, or I've sucessfully deceived a few of you into clicking my ads, though very doubtful.

Not a bad use of a blog. I like it.

Suggestions:

1. Make your search box narrower. Say 15 characters?

2. I like the images by your 300x250 adsense block. Now put it front and center at the top of your content area.

3. Pick a better color scheme. The green is a bit sickly. Try muted complimentary colors.

4. Remove the standard WP "Meta" section with a link to your admin screen at the bottom.

Test like crazy and you will do well. Rinse and repeat.

Remember, less is more with arbitrage... cept the actually volume of the sites. :338:

I don't know about everyone else, but all of my arbitrage sites are indexed in yahoo and I have the no index no follow. I am thinking this is because of the sites 7search is putting our links on. So, it might make sense to combine a little BH with Arbi.

i'm a noob too, but if you're doing an arb site i wouldn't mention other sites they could go to... even if you didnt' have a link on your page there if I were them I would just go and type 'ebay' or 'pricegrabber' or something in my browser after you mentioned them.

if you are going to do that at least use an affiliate link with those sites so you get paid for the links!

The traffic leaks are indeed an issue and I will be removing them soon.

Good point on the website referencing...just wanted to give some type of content regarding the subject.

I like the idea and think it could work. It seems more like a borderline content/arbitrage site that could work by using conventional arbitrage methods of driving traffic and also by taking advantage of organic traffic.

I would also agree that you need to drop any outside links, but would ad more pages within the site like XXX to XXXX more, or keep the outside links, but make sure they are affiliate links like someone else had mentioned.

I also think that WP is the perfect tool for what your doing, how would it be wasting resources?

I like to think there is more than one way to skin a cat. I may even try something similar.

Can someone post up (or PM me) some URLs of good arbitrage sites? I am just reading about this stuff now and would like to see some examples of successful arbi sites.
