The nightclub I used ti run in Melbourne, there'd be this dude that sat on top of the cigarette machine, reading a book, usually a thick one. Not particularly attractive. Definitely not terribly social seeing as he was reading a book in a nightclub.
But he'd have HEAPS of women buying him drinks and talking to him because he stood out... or sat out as the case may be.
Never saw him with any of his own friends, although the regulars would wave at him as they got a pack of smokes. He'd come in, hop up onto the cigarette machine, open the book, and start reading.

Hahah aight. Agreed. It's *better* to come with someone. But if you're going alone, it must be done right. Start talking early, not just stand off in a corner being creepy. Seems like too many choose the latter.
