Hacker Paradise

Seems more like a creepy tech cult and then at the end Fortune 50 tech companies and startups snag you up.

No thanks. Although it would be very cool to get in with some high up data scientists, those fuckers make 6 figures starting out. Where all my python friends at? :)

One of my co-workers spends a few months here then moves to the 3rd world for the rest of the year, he's in Chile now (since last summer), he's coming back next month to get some more money.

But, a lot of the opportunities here want local people, where I work, they'll pay $100/hr locally over someone charging $20/hr remotely, all day long.

I'm self taught, use Unity 3d, and have a pretty good paying day job. My paycheck for 2 weeks, being an hourly employee:

Not the most money in the world, but it's actually a lot of fun and sustainable...and I used to work construction for money a few years ago.

Never would have happened for me remotely....my tactic for the last 2 years has been: get in the door (first Unity job was $15/hr, moved from that to $50 in 1 move), work ass off, impress people, make more money.

So mostly photoshop related shit... amirite?

^ using C# in Unity 3d...mostly with oculus rift+kinect 2 or augmented reality mobile apps.

Not bragging, meant more as inspirational, if a fuck up like me can do it...

So what porn company are you working for and when is the next big Oculus porn app coming out ? :)

lol I know a guy at mykandi who's always asking the same but with AR.

I mocked this up 2 years ago:

We're moving to htc vive for VR sooooon. We've used Oculus for going on 3 years now, dk1, dk2, gearVR versions.

Hololens is a total fail, the "augmented" content is way too tiny to be a game changer in any way.

Either way, my main point in posting was just to mention you don't have to get into data science or tedious shit to make 6 figs, unless those topics interest you. My gf makes more than me....

sorry to say but the numbers and letters are totally visible due to the screen in the back. place the check on a book next time, so the light don't go through. Or use a more dense photoshop brush))

regards your job - you rock, keep up and keep owning!

regards remote job - many people live in cheap countries with great climate and earn their money remotely. They do not make big figures - but they do not need them, because food and rent are cheap in Goa, Chile, Uruguay or other third world countries. Such jobs mostly include designers, photographers, copywriters and other people who mostly need only Internet uplink to deliver their work to the customers. Or they seek spiritual inspiration or self enlightenment, reasons may vary. Or they just prefer living in a nearly permanent summer.

And when you go for a vacation you have a month of that wonderful climate for big money. They get it 9-10 months a year nearly for free.

So its just a choice everybody makes for themselves.
