Here's the article

Why did he quit adsense? Because "it doesn't align with his viberation match" or some new age shit, I dunno.

To be honest, if I had made $100k in passive income a year, I would be traveling around the world and doing interesting shit.

Yes Steve, making money with adsense is ethic, so pocket that money, mother fucker.

the biggest single factor in making this move was my shift to a 100% raw vegan diet earlier this year. Once I went 100% raw, the subtle signals from my intuition became louder and clearer. Acting on these intuitive sensations has been causing massive ripples of change throughout all parts of my life. Dropping advertising from my website is just one of many things I’m doing to bring my external reality into better alignment with the new person I’ve become on the inside.

Become vegan, give up on money. Makes sense to me.

P.S. Enjoy your early-onset osteoporosis.

I'm sure he can make more with direct ad sales and partnerships anyway - this is just link bait under the guise of altruism...

I just want to enjoy this plunge in income for a while.....I want to remain open to what triggers my intuition and inspires my imagination.....I feel totally at peace with this new direction
What a goof. The incense he burns all day is clouding his better judgment.

Darn right. I just had a huge slab of prime rib and a baked potato slathered in sour cream tonight. It was awesome.

Urghs.. did not realize it was Steve Pavlina we were talkign about.

Guy started out as an independent software shop doing games. Did OK and had a good blog and a nice forum targeted to that niche (ISV, not games).

Then he decided to become a motivation guru / speaker / vegan / esoteric nutjob.

He quit the forum, made that blog and has been hugging trees ever since.

Seriously, the guy peddles "the Secret" and other stuff along the same IQ flatline.

HAHAHAHA

" Adsense hasn’t been my top income generator for more than two years."

"The majority of my income currently comes from joint-venture promotions"

His just focusing on the 80% of his income and leaving the other 20%. It always focus on the productive shit. You make more money that way. His like the Tony Robbins of internet motivation. Adsense is just a distraction, when you're trying to sell product.

I respect the choice, it forces him to try something new and shows that money doesn't blind his decisions.

Not everything in life is about trying to squeeze the most amount of money that you can out of people. Seriously, it's just money.

The Secret. Talk about mass sheperdary. Baaa.

Whatever this guy is or does I know for sure he writes good content. Readers and bots like that. It can only be good for both.

He makes more money elsewhere and is focusing on whatever it may be. What's wrong with that? Life's not always about money, especially for people like him for have some and want enjoyment out of their lives rather than more money to pad their bank account with.

It's because he's "an Aries after all, not a Taurus". That makes sense because im a taurus and i would be more that happy to accept 100k a year for doing nothing

I think what he's doing is a very sensible move - his blog is a long term project, and he's managed to build quite a brand for himself.

Steve Pavlina's business is based around building up trust with his readership and then leveraging that trust to sell them products which are related to his area of expertise. To be able to do that, he has to be congruent and authentic.

Having ads for things which conflict with his message hurts his authenticity, and long term is likely to be reduce the amount of money he'll make from selling his "joint venture" stuff.

It's the same reason that I wouldn't dream of pushing affiliate offers to my main business's mailing list. I'd ruin the trust I've built up with my prospects, and hurt my long term income as a result.

I think this will make his business more profitable.

I've always admired Pavlina's approach. He's thoughtful and methodical. Awhile back, he posted the results of a sleeping experiment he had undergone. According to his post, he followed the same regimen as certain sects of the military.

The reason I bring that up is because it's an example of how Pavlina seems (I don't know the man) to approach everything. He tests things. Then, he reviews the results. He keeps what works for him and chucks the rest. I imagine he's done the same with his traffic, click stream data, and Adsense earnings.

I don't agree with everything he's published. But, he's relentless with his testing and application. And from a marketer's point of view, that's worthy of respect.

Plus, he writes well. :)

Oh yeah, I get it - veganism makes your brain shrink, having a shrunken brain makes you do stupid things like throw away money.....

My .002
Steve Pavlina is a workhorse writer. He writes about anything self-help and new-age and related terms under the sun. And he is good at it. He is GREAT at it. He is fast writer. While you drink beer and spend 1hr+ on a phone with your current g/f and chatting with your current online g/f's - he writes. Did i mention he is a great writer? And he was doing it for ages. And he loves it. Google crawler experiences orgasm every time it crawls his properties as there is always something fresh happened on his site and it is not auto generated and it is not RSS fed.
So after 10 or so years the guy is making 100k+ just from the lame adsense. He certainly could grow up to higher hights via JV's and partnerships with serious businesses.
And he is in self-help - in the current economy everyone is looking for some kind of (self)?help.

Personally my best turn off - is adsense ads. When i look for help and visit brand new site and see Adsense over there - it almost automatically goes to my "never visit again" list. *spam*! Serious intelligent people very rare put adsense on their work unless it's an BFAS sites.

Just... rambling... :)
