Ok, so you have built a 30K keyword list. How do you go about deciding what groups to put them into? What process do you follow?

I need help on this subject as its frustrating me.

Thanks,

Jon

Rapid Keyword also has a grouper. But I am still not sure what process to group on. Just having 2 words the same is not reason enough to group.

Take this example:

free ringtones for cingular nokia 6010
free ringtones for nokia 6010
free ringtones for nokia 6010 cell phone
free ringtones for t mobile to go nokia 6010
free ringtones for t mobile to go phone nokia 6010
free ringtones nokia 6010
free ringtones nokia 6010 and 3390
free ringtones sent to my nokia 6010
free tones and ringtones nokia 6010 cingular
mobile nokia 6010 ringtones
nokia 6010 1.99 ringtones
nokia 6010 free ringtones

You can group on:
- nokia ringtones
- 6010 ringtones
- free ringtones
- ringtones for
etc

How do you decide? I want an algo!

Jon

So, always go from model number or code and main keyword i.e. 6010 ringtones. That makes perfect sense and its kind of the type of discussion I was looking for.

But then there are other cases where you might have:

cingular ringtones
nokia cingular ringtones
ringtones verizon nokia
nokia ringtones

Do you then group by nokia or cingular? This confuses me!

I group mine by base keywords.

the above example is bad to group b/c they are so different when compared to each other. although the base keywords are the same, the keyword itself don't relate when simply looking at the formation/context of it all.

I base my grouping *solely* on the amount of keywords that will end up in each group. I shoot for less than 20 (or less than 10 ideally) keywords per AdGroup.

So, if a proposed group has 50 keywords, I narrow it down further. In your case, I may test 'nokia' as an AdGroup, pulling key phrases that contain *all* words (in any order) in the AdGroup. If there are too many in an AdGroup, I'll ad another keyword like "nokia 6010" If that's still too many, keep going. "nokia 6010 t-mobile" Or shift gears: "free nokia ringtones" "free t-mobile ringtones" "free 6010"
