Google wants a piece of the social networking pie (again)

Buzz feature is on Yahoo mail for a while.. it has not made the news.. the majors Yahoo/Microsoft/Google will all build the "social" features around their existing platform.. friends, connections, updates... facebook still the king in social

Buzz already has a larger userbase then Twitter !

But that doesn´t automatically mean success... But is a good foundation to start with!

Personally I see more potential in Google Wave. I guess it is more of a productivity tool and and not som much "fun" as Buzz.

Ohh Buzz,

I remember when it launched and I immediately had somewhere around 400 followers.. To date I have seen maybe 15 posts. It just isn't what Google users are looking for. I know that in my life and those around me Google is a staple for collaborative work. Applications like Docs, IGoogle, and talk are what Google is good at. I don't think that they need too strive for excellence in the social networking world at all. If they would just stick to the basics, and update Android, I'll be happy.

They need to stick to what they're good up which is innovation and when they've run out of ideas, buy out their competitors. This whole playing catch up crap is beneath them.

Exactly trubolapp, catch up and copy is what Yahoo and Microsoft do. I do fucking hate Google though and wish upon them much rains of locust.

I guess there might be a demand for the next big social network as kids jump ship because more and more of their grandmas join facebook and send them farmville requests.

It's really hard to overcome the intertia that Facebook has. I don't know that kids are "jumping ship" from Facebook because their grandmas are joining and spamming them with game requests... but I think the next big social shift will probably involve some kind of easy video sharing/conferencing. Decent portable video is getting pretty ubiquitous because of phones.
