Google Audio Indexing is new technology that Google is currently developing that actually makes it possible to search the contents of videos.

Here is the mind numbing concept. It uses speech recognition technology to find spoken words inside videos allowing you to jump right to the point in the video where the particular words were spoken.

At the moment it's just been rolled out as a test for the US elections and certainly is not ready for prime time. However I'm very impressed with what it is achieving already.

It's far from perfect, but already it's impressive.

Can you imagine the concept of this once it is up and working?

Google can index the spoken text in Video's.

This opens up a complete new market for savvy Internet Marketers like us, who can "speak" the appropriate keywords tags and phrases we want to rank for, and allow Google to rank us accordingly.

Will it be that easy? Time will tell.

Here is the Google Gaundi link where you can see it in action.

Google Audio Indexing

That's pretty awesome man. It seems kind of old stuff when you think about software that's been around for years that takes audio of what you say in a microphone and spells it out. I wonder what it does for words it can't understand, does it try to spell them out or remove them?

Here's a thought: Obviously it's only English videos for now, but they'll soon start rolling out in foreign languages.
Do you think they'll implement a feature where you'll be able to look for one language in the transliterated character set of another language?
And do you think we're headed for the point where Google will be able to automatically add Engrish subtitles to videos for you?

"Hello aunt Viagra"
"Oh, hi there little Dick"
"What are you cooking aunt Viagra?"
"A Cialis pie dear. Your cousin Levitra will be coming in soon"

I bet they developed this technology with all the data collected from their 411 goog. Most people don't know that google invented their free service just to collect millions of voice samples from people all over for research purposes.
