WordPress › Google+ Comments for WordPress « WordPress Plugins

Anyone implemented this yet? I've installed it on a few test blogs just for fun, and really want to implement it on my more active blogs, but have heard a few concerns. The main concern I've heard is it has trouble acting responsively on certain devices/resolutions/browsers which obviously is an issue with me.

Also not totally sure how it will impact page speed once a ton of comments are made with external links, etc.

Side thought - My current state of mind is really trying to surround my blogs with as much authorship, schema, and g+ as possible in the event that author rank does happen. My thought is that blogs that have G+ comments enabled will receive more love from algorithmic updates geared towards rewarding blogs that have a heavy implementation of G+.

Curious to hear any feedback on this.

Looks great. Thanks for the tip on this plugin. I am with you on the thought that the more G+ integration, the better when it comes to rankings. Going to give it a try on some new sites.

hadn't thought of that - im sure that will be one of Googles next acquisitions!

Kinda surprised Google didn't just make their own platform here... But then again if you can get hundreds of people to beta test it, and someone else to do the grunt work.. And then buy it, I suppose that's the way to go...

Starting to think about the downsides though..

I don't even use GA, not sure if I want something from Google checking out all of my private site data.. Hmm...

Why not using GA on your top white sites, G needs to know about your amazing site after all and what amazing natural traffic does it have and how much time people spend on it and how many pages they see and how low the bounce rate is etc. Otherwise, how can G evaluate it and put it to well deserved 1st position?

While on all the tiers pumper stuff of course it's wise not to use GA.

Yoinked! Having that too - I have a site that's been more-or-less crying out for this! A fair chunk of the readership is on G+ and I've been trying to think of a way to directly integrate rather than just linking it.

I noticed in the screenshots on the dl page:

I would recommend to make the website responsive. If you say that there are chances to have issues with devices/resolutions/browsers, at least you can get rid of one problem. After that is only a matter of testing on different browsers + android/iOS.

Great share Patrick. The more a site is aligned with G's trust the better.
My only concern is the security of said plugins..
example- we had a analytics plugin that required we input the G login details password etc
and within minutes of installing we had chinese ip's logging in to our G account..
Luckily G notified us of this otherwise who knows..

wow, that is really scary. really glad you caught that!

anyone installed this this week? curious to see if anyone with a responsive theme has done any more in depth desting with mobile/ish browsers.

on a similar note, did anyone else see that schema.org added the ability for organizations to add an image source "logo type" to their company listings?

this can only mean that we are going to start seeing company logos in the serps very soon

It goes in the organization type and looks like:
itemprop="logo" src="company.jpg"

I didn't see that, I will check it out now. All I can say is about fucking time. It is definitely up there as most asked client question, "what do you mean I can only show my face and not my brand logo in search?"

This will be good if it works! I did see one where the guy had managed to get something other than a face pic. It was something like a black square on a red background and it stuck and held as his image in the SERPs. For the life of me I can't recall where I saw it though.

:annoyed with myself smiley for not noting it down:

Like he got Google+ authorship established and he switched out his profile pic for his brands? In my experience I can't get those to even register in search results, apparently some people have gotten it to stick for a couple hours to days.

I've seen them here and there, but not for long.

As for the schema - I'm not sure where the logo (or even if) will be displayed on the SERPs. I think Google will have to assign a default image size, or at the least ratio (1:1 etc) so that they won't look moddled in the SERPs.

This is probably a major step towards creating a standard for author rank and the integration of G+ Pages into the SERPs - just a theory but would really make sense.

I tried exactly that with one of my sites. Can't be specific as to how long it took but the image was removed in the SERP pretty quickly (something like ~24hrs). I may have just been unlucky but now I can't get the original image to display so I've put it back to the logo and left it. Not really too bothered with it on that site though.
Other ones I'm leaving with the photo as it seems to make quite a difference in CTR when yours is the one that stands in SERP. (obviously!)
