Hiya!
I finally registered my first domain :)
At the same time took the hosting option from godaddy.com.

I uploaded a simple index page stating my domain is under construction. which appeared and is still there.

I have created a website and it has enough content for me to upload it.
I tried using filezilla and use port number 21 but it keeps telling me incoorect port???

anyways, i decided to use the simple godaddy ftp file upload program.

According to them my files are uploaded to the server correctly, however they say it will take 24-48 hours for my page to appear on my domain?
wtf?
isnt it supposed to be instant?

I was at my friends house, he was showing me his domain, updated a page for me as i sat there and it was instantly updated on his domain?

is godaddy a good hoster?
should pages be updated instantly?
what port number must i connect to to use filezilla???

thank you very much for any help

You see its fucked up because 99% of people always say GoDaddy sucks dick but I've used them and many others for years now and have never had a single issue, but then again I use the higher hosting levels so maybe they have better support for us who knows.

But updating your site should be instant, updating your .htaccess file however will not be instant, and pointing your Nameservers to another hosting account can take upto 24 to 48 hours.

It sounds like you don't know much about websites or hosting so there is a large chance that its not an issue with GoDaddy but its an issue with something you've done.

As for for FTP ports GoDaddy's ports are 21 (Default) just leave it stock and it should work fine, double check your usernames and passwords.

I used godaddy for a bit and had and totally bad experience. The customer support was less than friending, the CP was not easy to use and it cost more than what I'm using now:

Web hosting services from ICDSoft: Superior Tech Support and Super Fast Servers -- ping me for affiliate link :)

Great 24 hour support and with the reseller rates, I pay $40 a site for hosting and HUGH offering of services and support.
