Alright so I stupidly got my first server account and domains with godaddy, I know I will be going somewhere else very soon.

My question is this, if I have a 200 byte redirect .php file on my shared server account(the cheapest one they have) how many clicks a day can I send it before there is lag for the user ect.?

I'm doubting it translates into a direct bandwidth division issue here so that's why I'm asking.

#1 You should never used shared server for anything business critical.

#2 It's fucking Godaddy, run the other direction, as in right now! You can get a the "baby" plan at Hostgator for a penny for your first month with coupon code: Wordpress.

#3 It's a redirect, you can do tons of them.

Alright I signed up with hostgator and went for a middle of the road plan at $12 a month or so.

Now I'm running a landing page with some pictures in it ect. normal landing page size for a rebill offer. If I am going to send 100k visitors a day to this site will I need to upgrade to something else. I was thinking of getting a dedicated server because $200 a month just didn't seem like to much in the scheme of my business plan but I also thought it might be way over kill. Is it time to go get a server set up if I want to be able to send that much traffic?

Am very curious as to how you go with Host Gator.

Keep us informed as to whether the plan you are on can withstand the traffic that you are sending to it

^^ I sent a message to the support and don't intend on waiting to see if it can handle it if they tell me to upgrade. If they say it could maybe even slow down a little I will ask them to get me on something that won't slow down asap.

So far HostGator has been fantastic.
