Up until aug. 2015, I had a system that worked well: proxies, the chrome 'new identity' plugin, and new accounts to up-vote content. Just four of five votes are good enough to get the ball rolling.

However, it seems like Reddit has changed their algos and new accounts no longer affect the voting or rankings of submitted content, nor the karma score for comments. Can anyone confirm? Is there a karma threshold that must be met? I also noticed that some of these old accounts were ghosted, I suspect for logging in under a proxy.
