heres the deal and i need this done within the next few hours or im in deep shit.

I am building a site for my friend Alex's company.

Its a joomla template hosted on hostgator and created with fantastico.

BUT

I built the new site on a subdomain and now i need to transfer it to the main domain and when i tried, it was all sql and PHP mistakes?

Can someone help me??? please? Ill give you cpanel access, ftp, anything you need, i just need to get this done NOW and i will give you +rep!! please

Just for reference if anyone else has an issue like this...

I don't use hostgator so I am not exactly certain how they do their subdomains, but probably just in a sub dir.

Move your joomla files from the sub dir to root of your web host and change the configuration.php lines below to reflect the new path.


$mosConfig_absolute_path = '/path_to_joomla/joomla_test';
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://domain/joomla_test';

You may also need to modify your cache folder too. You can edit it on the line:

$mosConfig_cachepath = '/path_to_joomla_or_wherever_you_want_your_cache/joomla_test/cache';

or just do it from the back end of Joomla (though you might not be able to log in if the old path is dead)


Oh.. and you probably don't want to uninstall from Fantastico after doing this. Probably won't work.

But anyway, I havent worked much with Jamoola, but it sounds like you need to config the config file to point it to the right database and domain, with the right user name and password obviously under the new domain. Probably already checked this but figured I would throw it out there.

Did you also set up a new database or are you running it off the same you were using on the sub?
