I read a nice post yesterday about finding expiring domains with high Google PageRank. This post explains how one would go about finding those domains:

There are people out there who make 6-figures+ from domain reselling who have their own software and sometimes entire teams of people working to find them good domains!!

What I am wondering is if there are people here on the forum who are buying expiring domains on a regular basis or know people doing so as described above? :)

I didn't read the site you posted, but I buy expired domains daily. Not for PR though ;)
 
shoe, a domain can't be expired for YEARS. 45 days max, before they go into redemption.

Depending on how you define the word expired. Previously registered domains can expire and be avaliable for registration for years, don't you call this that the domain has expired?

No, it's just a domain that has been available for registration for years. If you find out a name you bought today, was once registered in 1996, it doesn't make that name 10 years old, nor can you say "it's been expired for 10 years."

When people talk about making money off expired domains, they don't mean buying domains that were once expired but are now available for registration. They mean buying domains as they are in the expiration process, from drop auctions.
 
I dunno... to me an expired domain is any domain that was once owned.

It is a "new registration" but the domain is not "new"... maybe we should call them "ex-used domains" lol. :1bluewinky:

Also when you will find an expired domain PR5+ and place a backorder with Pool.com for example, then you end up paying $60 when nobody else places a bid (no auction find place)! Then if you decide next to flip this domain what price can you sell it for in order to make a nice profit (I mean you spend already $60 on this backorder)? :)

Not sure, I don't buy or sell for PR. PR can disappear. Traffic and quality of the name itself is the most important.
 
I wonder if buying/selling domains based on PR is a worthwhile business.

It seems great for a link building campaign if one could obtain domains already with a nice PR.
 
hell, its worth buying and owning domains based on backlinks. You could throw the site up on textlinkads for some easy cash or do a redirect for SEO.
 
I scanned through a bunch of the deleting domains at Pool.com. Although many of them have high PR/backlinks, I have yet to find one with an Alexa rank anywhere on the map (<250k).

I've never used TextLinkAds, but they price their links on a combination of PR and Alexa Rank right? It would seem weird to see a site with that combo.

I guess I could go the perm redirect route for SEO. Or maybe even sell off acquired domains.

How much would people pay to own a PR4, 5, or 6 domain?
