First Website

Many of us use Hostgator, LunarPages, BlueHost , or someone else that includes Cpanel and Fantisitco for shared hosting. Cheap - under $10 a month, and Cpanel makes it quick and easy to set up Wordpress, add other top level domains or subdomains, or change everything to a new host if either you or your hosting company screws up. All hosts change policies and/or customer service occasionally, so being able to move makes sense. Especially for your first website.

if you have no experience at all with ecommerce go with a hosted cart...its easier....if you know some php and junk do oscommerce

I used to have a lunarpages as my host and would recommend that if you can afford the yearly payment. I'm using HostGator now because I like having the monthly payment instead. Haven't hadn't any problems with them at all.

Yahoo is one of the better ones out there. Good for drop shipping, and can interface the checkout over to your own script on another server to trigger events upon checkout. If you want to sell stuff and don't want to become a developer I'd recommend Yahoo.

I agree. I use Hostgator. It takes some getting used to at first but that little fantistico button is sweet. (Named appropriately IMHO). Real easy to set up redirects too.

There are other cheaper and better solutions 'out of the box'. Also you might wanna look for a solution with a sitebuilder as it would do the same thing but in a customized way.
