First thing you do to a brand new site

I'm getting the the point of having a few clients, and a couple more joining every month.

What's the first thing you do to a site when you get a new client? I'm talking about a site that has had zero previous SEO, and has no backlinks whatsoever.

I've currently been doing social bookmarking and then just building web2.0 properties around it, just wondered what order you guys did things in.

then to point some fire on them(blasts and SB) later slowly expose your site.

Yeah basically go over the on page SEO and get high quality content. And drip feed some good blog comments, web 2.0s, profiles, edu and gov links can give you a good initial boost. And yeah Do-follow social bookmarking and twitter can do wonders for you.
