I have been away from the Webmaster/Affiliate marketing world for about a year now due to studies and obviously there are now less and less available .com .org and .net , which thus compels you to register different extensions.

Other than the three, mentioned above what other extensions are considered to be respected or are becoming more widely recognised and accepted?

For example, what implications would there be in registering a .me ? How does a .me compare to a .net or .org for example.

Thanks. :conehead:

I wrote my original post late at night so I will try and clarify.

I did not 'go away' because less domains were available.

Let's say hypothetically, all .com, .net and .org were registered.
I believe there is a general consensus that these three domains are the most desirable.

What extensions would be in highest demand after these three are all taken?

Hopefully I phrased it better this time round, i'm actually struggling to understand what question i'm actually asking myself.

EDIT:

What i'm trying to ask is:

What are the most respected domain extensions after .com .net .org?

cctld extensions are good for targeting traffic in the country they respond to. Otherwise, be creative. There are plenty of com/net/org domains available. If you're looking to have your visitors remember your URL, .com is the only way to go. If you're just doing SEO, other extensions are fine.
