Just read this on techcrunch, if this actually comes out on monday, it would be interesting to see what changes in this space.

Prolly more space to advertise if lot of people start using facebook email. It seem FB is slowing moving a "unified platform" concept where you will be doing all your task in FB. guess they will launch a search engine next, or insert a big Bing search bar on top.

First impression... this might just be what finally kills the scum.

Think about it, the bulk of the free email space is taken up by alias sites right now. By having sexyslut123@gmail.com the user has a sense of anonymity, and until she either gets spyware or a virus that shares her email address, or she signs up for a gift card, she won't be spammed much if at all. If she does get spammed too much, she just opens up biggerslut@gmail.com and no more spam.

Now in the facebook work everyone uses public aliases, fb id's, or full names to identify themselves. For a spammer to find their address it's as simple as scraping their public profile to find their full name or alias. Suddenly you have an email list of 500MM with name, age, and location to destroy. Best of all, it's a pain in the ass to change your address without opening a new account.
