Anyone do anything with their spare CPU resources on their VMs or baremetal servers to earn $$ while they're not buying utilized for other purposes?

(I'm not talking about anything that requires development, management, etc, more of a set and forget or set/configure and check-in on every couple weeks.)

Assuming power is paid for already almost anything is better than nothing.

Yes but here is not much an idle server is going to do make you money just using its resources. You can rent them out to people to host shit on or run spam scripts/bots would be the easiest way.

Are you a programmer?

You should just turn them into tor relays and edit nodes because sharing = caring.

Obviously I can rent them, or program software to use them I already mentioned not wanting to take on extra WORK to make some extra small money... We already have software, projects, etc using them but have way more resources available than currently need.

If there's nothing to do they can be turned off then :/

maybe request a downgrade or reconfiguration from your hosting provider? Our clients often realise they have much more resources than they are capable of currently using - and we reconfigure their packages so they pay less and we have spare resources to sell to other customers. Win-win situation in my opinion.

If you have any nix boxes turn them into tor relays. It's silly to turn them off just because you want to make some small amount of money from them.

I'll buy some boxes from you and turn them into tor exit relays.

PM me your Skype.
