Man this is great! I use to use a 62"DLP as a second monitor, but I never actually extended one desktop to work with another. I just wired my notebook up to my primary monitor and am on cloud 9, I already feel twice as productive as I did a half hour ago... This is fucking great, I have to go out and buy another monitor to get three working together.....

:D

People have been doing this shit for years :) Get UltraMon as well, it helps for getting the dual-tri monitor setup at ultimate perfection

Jerxs has been doing it for a few hours:) Ill look into Ultramon, having two monitors working together makes things so much easier, I might head up to BestBuy tonight for that third.

Two monitors will double your productivity. It makes a HUGE difference. Especially with photoshop work.

This is on my to-do list, at least once I've got fat piles of spare cash laying around ;)

I used to think my 19" was the shit *sigh*

What main things do you guys use the dual monitors for? design one side, code other? Do you often switch whats on both, when working on different stuff, or do you usually have one monitoring specific things, while the other is your main work area?

Perhaps "Tail -f" the apache logs across all your sites on one monitor, and
become one with the Matrix? ;)

extending does rock! i got everyone at work to open up their laptops and use that display in addition to the lcd. great to have a meeting with screensharing in one screen and when it gets real boring - wickedfire up in the other.

your not kidding, Ive also just took the time to set XAMPP up on my notebook, so coding in one screen testing in another, or testing in both at different resolution, for some reason I cant get photoshop CS2 to work on both monitors, it opens and functions except for the document area.... Im sure its something simple im missing at the moment.

I always appreciate how useful dual monitors are when I go on the road and have to use just my notebook. I feel like 1 hand is tied behind my back -- so awkward and way less productive.

I have browsers, CS2, editplus, trillian, winscp, putty, and more to run all at one time.

My right is purely for browsing and my left if for everything else, I got 2 19" widescreens plus a laptop so it works wonders

you can get a Walmart special for like $150, thats a 17" lcd ......... get one of those untill you have the cash to buy something sweet, then give the El Cheapo to some fucking charity or family member that could use it.

Yeah jeez they have come way down in price since I last looked. I'd want at least a 19 as my second I think though, I can't stand working on less than a 19 anymore. If it weren't for the fact that I'm only a few months in to self employment, I'd be happy to spend on this sort of thing. I'm being all very sensible with my savings till my income is really moving, ah well - worth the hardships in the long run huh.
