What would you say would be the better editor?

I know (and tested) that MS expression web 2 created code that was more SEO friendly, and was compatible with all of dreamweaver templates. However adobie is ultimately the better tool.

With EW3 out, would it be superior or equivalent to dreamWeaver CS4?

Mirosorft seems to have fixed most of the bugs and made it more .php friendly.

I guess the best question to ask is... 90% of the time, do you work in code view, or do you work in design view?

I much prefer this view:

Expression Web = Better for coding by hand
Dreamweaver = Better for WYSIWYG (but writes bloated code)

^^ Yeah the WYSIWYG in DW makes some seriously shitty code.

Plain text files FTW.

Dreamweaver is alright for code view, and I used to use it exclusively, but Expression Web is better. Just my experience, maybe I wasn't using the right features but for example when coding CSS, I found that Expression Web's color coding was better, and it's drop-down menus of possible options are very helpful.

I just found it a lot easier to use, and I prefer Expression Web to other text-coding programs like Notepad++ (although there are functions of that I like as well).

Also if you like to have your coding be compliant to the current doctype, Expression Web helps you do that and as far as I know Dreamweaver doesn't do that. I've only used DW CS3 though not CS4, so my sentiments might be outdated.

Here's a graphic of the color coding differences:

Depends on what you set for the syntax highlighting, dreamweaver will do that too. If syntax highlighting is a reason to crown one over the other, there's quite a few simpler editors that may outdo both of those.
