How do you know if an expired domain has good backlinks/non-spammy good neighborhood kinds? My last site is still sandboxed and I'm hoping buying up a domain that has already got links pointing to it will avoid the box.

You might also take a look at archive.org and see what kind of shit was on it before it expired.

Seems too obvious to say, but just in case:

If you type

link:http://www.urlyourechecking.tld

into Google, it'll come up with most of the backlinks for you

Google does not show all the backlinks for obvious reasons.

Using Yahoo's site explorer is the best way to view the first 1k backlinks.
