I have been on the internet since day one, hell, I used to own harleys.com until I sold it with my business... I have never got into affiliate marketing, but I am very interested in getting into it, seems like a good way to make money now days... Anyone wanna point me in the right direction?

Obviously, I need a website to put the ads on, so basicly I need to create a website and get it popular, then fill it with ads, am I correct?

Well yea that's one way of doing it but it's a much longer road and involves a lot of work, an easier method would be to learn pay per click marketing, join an affiliate network to find offers, setup landing pages for those offers and then promote them through adwords/YSM/adcenter and optimize your campaign until you earn more money than you spend on clicks.

Forums and blogs are the best way. Do not spend any money on ebooks or most coaching programs. I am still in the process of really learning it so I can't give too much advice but it does take some time to become profitable at.

Think of it this way.

A website is like a newspaper. You can draw viewers to your newspaper via search engines (and seo work) and other means.

PPC - is like an ad which you'd place in a newspaper.

Your job (doing PPC) is finding which newspapers (websites) are best suited and will bring the most ROI for your PPC ad.

Both take a certain amount of time and dedication in testing.

theres some free webhosting in it for anyone that acually gives me a real hand in this.

No offense dude but to the guys who you would like to get advice from, the ones that are actually successful and not on this board just to bullshit (I'm here mostly just to bullshit), view the cost of webhosting as pocket change.

The short answer to your question is to read through the different stickies in this section and the Affiliate Marketing section. If you are truly a new comer to this game a program like ppc-coach could be a big help. You could find everything you need to learn, tracking setup, ad group creation, keyword strategies here but you have to wade through a lot of bullshit to get at it. The benefits of a program like ppc-coach (or many others) is that they condense things down to get you the most info in the shortest amount of time. It's not that there arent threads on wf that don't cut to the chase, there are, but so much of the info is ad-hoc that you may latch onto something and not realize you are wading into the deep end instead of doing a few laps in the kiddie pool with the floaties on. A program will give you a sense of the big picture or at least a progression of ideas that build on each other and serve as learning milestones, kind of like the lowly dry wall guy that learns how to do roofs, and then incorporates custom shelves, then foundations, work, etc.. and finally knows enough to profitably build entire spec houses.

A universal truth you will get from most of the big time posters in here is that you better be ready to invest time and money, the ratio of the two will vary widely from person to person and how they approach the biz.

But as a jumping off point (especially if you dont want to shell out the cabbage to join a program, actually read this shit below even if you do join a program) here is this...

Yeah the Nicky Cakes newbie guide is better than really any ebook you can get out there. I just tried out that John Reese's Opportunity.com just to see what he had going on with it and all he did was recycle outdated videos from his old projects. It has been around 4 days now since I requested a refund and no response so stay away from that coaching program. I know I will get flamed for this but Shoemoney has an a coaching/tool program now that I have actually heard some good things about. I think you can really learn everything you need though right here, also stay away from digitalpoint as 90% of what those people say there isn't even the truth.

Even coaching programs from people like Shoemoney should be taken with a grain of salt. The personal experiences of one or two internet marketers starting their business a decade ago, might not be helpful to starting your own today. You'll learn something from them, but the method of utilization might need tweaking.
