Hi Guys/Gals

I am setting up a custom blog, its not wordpress.

I have a programmer thats developing it and when it launches Im gonna do some heavy advertising so its going to get in front of a big audience of white collar professionals such as lawyers and doctors.

that being said im worried about what type of email subscription service I should use cause if you mess up with the users accounts information then you could get sued.

I can have my developer create and send registration/subscription/newsletter emails from our server. but im worried about unforeseen problems.

anyone have experience with doing it by yourself or services like aweber, constant contact?

is it better to pay the monthly fee to a 3rd party and not worry about possible spam/virus/ email account hacking etc...?

what the pros and cons of custom or 3rd party?

The answer to the question in bold is yes.

I don't really know the cons of using a 3rd party service like Aweber for sending your newsletters, in fact I don't really think there are any, unless you have like 20 different newsletters to send regularily and it would be cheaper to do it from your own server.

The pros? Easier, safer, with more support, and probably also cheaper.

I also use mailchimp and I have not experienced any problems with it unlike aweber which messed up some of my subscriber's email by sending some unknown emails.

I suggest using 3rd party. GetResponse, AWeber, MadMiMi, MailChimp, VerticalResponse, etc.
